Thma Bay Kaek Temple Under Restoration

Siem Reap: The APSARA National Authority is in the process of repairing and restoring Thma Bay Kaek temple. The process started in February and is now 60% complete. The work is expected to be finished by the end of next month.

Thma Bay Kaek temple is located west of Angkor Wat. The restoration is being carried out to enhance its value to the rest of the archaeological park. The APSARA National Authority says the technical team has been able to reuse most the temple’s original stonework with barely 10-15% being new stone.

Archaeologist at the Department of Conservation of Monuments, Srun Tech, says the temple was in bad need of repairs due to its age, erosion and over-tourism.
